A reducing diameter of thick wire is used in this process by passing it through a series of wire drawing dies with a successive die having a smaller diameter compared to the preceding one. Generally chilled cast iron, tungsten carbide, diamond or other tool materials are used to manufacture the die. In the area of the wire, the maximum reduction can be less than 45% in one pass. 

Rod Drawing:

Road drawing is rigid and has a larger diameter compared to wire that makes road drawing different compared to the wire drawing. The wire can be coiled but a rod should be kept straight that's why this process requires bulky equipment compared to wire drawing. First of all the work piece is fed into a die and pulled by a carriage that increases the length and decreases its cross section. Now you can cut the rod into different sections as per requirement.

Tube Drawing:

Tube drawing process makes use of mandrel to decrease wall thickness and cross-section diameter of a tube that makes it different compared to the other two processes. If you see the rod drawing, you will find the mandrel placed with die and the work piece is pulled by a carriage system. The tube can be circular or rectangular. And more than one pass is required to complete the drawing operations.
